A professional touch: Former Major League slugger Foster a hit at 'Batter Up' clinic
NEW HAVEN — George Foster wore a Cincinnati Reds cap and T-shirt — complete with his last name and No. 15 on the back — as he made his way around the Pop Smith Little League complex Saturday morning. He stopped to offer some instruction to a group of young players working on catching fly balls on the run."You're going to backhand those into your glove," Foster said to the group. "Catch one, then go and get a drink of water."Later, he stopped by another group taking batting practice."Choke up a little, keep your elbow up and snap the bat with your bottom hand. All line drives." Foster said, just before one youngster swung and connected. "Oh, yeah! That's solid contact."Most of the 200 or so children in attendance at Saturday's second annual "Batter Up" community baseball clinic, sponsored by Comcast and the Dads Do Make a Difference Foundation, only knew Foster played in the major leagues because they were told so just before stepping on...

Stedman Graham Attends Annual Fatherhood Summit That Brings Dad and Kids Together
By Reggie Hales

Hartford - Dads do make a difference in a kids life. And the message was that if a father is absent in a kids life it can have ill effects. The Annual Fatherhood Summit that took place last Wednesday at the Senior Center on Coventry St, in Hartford was a gathering of hope that more absent fathers will step up to the plate and become more involved in their kids life. Spending time with your kids will allow them to become more responsible adults.

Mayor Perez spoke of who important it is to have a father in a kids life. The key note speaker was Stedman Graham, Oprah's boy friend. Graham attended by the invitation of "Dads Do Make A Difference" executive director Lisa Nkonoki. "Invest in your kids and not in material things one really doesn't need, especially in today's society, said Graham."

The Men of Color Initiative, who walk kids to school each morning continue their efforts to get men involved in the safety of Hartford's Kids. They along with other sponsors handed out books and other gift materials for those who and did not attend to become more knowledgeable on the issues.

Oprah's Beau In Bridgeport
June 6, 2008

It may not be Oprah Winfrey or her gal pal Gayle King, but some would say it is the next best thing. Oprah's longtime boyfriend, motivational speaker and author Stedman Graham, will be the keynote speaker today for the first eighth-grade graduating class at New Beginnings Family Academy, a public charter school in Bridgeport. Lisa Nkonoki, who heads up Nkonoki Entertainment Group LLC, said she helped the academy arrange for Graham to attend the graduation. Nkonoki said Graham will speak to the students and guests at the ceremony and also conduct a morning workshop for all the school's students using his book "Teens Can Make It Happen."
